Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 10 July 2025
Effective date: 10 July 2025
These Terms and Conditions govern the use of the website at mainspr.pro and the watch repair services provided by Mainspring Row at 6 Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. By submitting a contact form, dropping off a watch for assessment, or engaging any service, you accept these terms.
1. Definitions
- "Workshop" or "we": Mainspring Row, operating at 6 Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur.
- "Owner" or "you": the individual who brings a watch to the workshop or submits an enquiry.
- "Service": any of the three workshop offerings — Condition Survey and Water Resistance Check, Standard Mechanical Service, or Complication Rebuild Project.
- "Scope": the written description of work agreed before a service begins.
- "Report": the written document provided at the end of a service, covering findings, work done, measurements and notes.
2. Acceptance of terms
These terms apply to anyone aged 18 or over who engages the workshop's services. By proceeding with any service arrangement, you confirm you have the legal capacity to enter into an agreement and are the owner of the watch, or are authorised by the owner to arrange service on their behalf.
3. Service description
Mainspring Row provides bench-level servicing for mechanical watches. The three available services are described on the Solutions page of this website. All service work is carried out at the workshop premises in Bangsar Baru, Kuala Lumpur. We do not currently provide postal or courier intake services for new clients.
4. Service scope and agreement
- No work is carried out without a written scope agreed by the owner beforehand.
- If additional work is identified during a service, the workshop will pause, document the findings and contact the owner for written agreement before proceeding.
- The owner may choose to have the watch reassembled at the original quoted price and collected without the additional work being carried out.
- For Complication Rebuild Projects, each stage of the project requires separate written agreement before it begins.
5. Pricing and payment
- Prices are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR/RM).
- Service prices: Condition Survey RM 480; Standard Mechanical Service RM 1,540; Complication Rebuild Project from RM 4,700.
- Externally sourced parts (crystals, hands, worn pivots, etc.) are quoted and agreed separately before ordering. They are not included in the base service price.
- Payment is due on collection. No additional bench fees, handling charges or storage costs are added beyond the agreed service price and agreed parts costs.
- We accept cash and bank transfer. Details are provided at intake.
- The Condition Survey fee is not a deposit against future services. It stands as a complete service in itself.
6. Timelines
Typical turnaround times are: Condition Survey 2–3 working days; Standard Mechanical Service 4–6 weeks; Complication Rebuild Project 10–16 weeks. These are indicative ranges. Actual turnaround may vary depending on parts availability and workload at the time of intake. Any significant delay will be communicated to the owner.
7. Workmanship coverage
- Standard Mechanical Services carry twelve months of workmanship coverage on the work carried out at the bench.
- This coverage applies to defects arising from the workshop's own work. It does not cover: physical damage, water ingress after the watch has left the workshop, loss, theft, or wear arising from normal use.
- The Condition Survey does not carry workmanship coverage, as no dismantling or service work is performed.
- Coverage terms for Complication Rebuild Projects are stated in the written proposal for each project.
8. Owner responsibilities
- You are responsible for disclosing any known previous repairs, modifications or damage to the watch at intake.
- You are responsible for collecting the watch within 30 days of the completion notice. After 60 days without contact, a storage fee may apply.
- Website content (text, images, reports) is for informational purposes. You are responsible for decisions made on the basis of information provided.
9. Intellectual property
All content on this website, including text, images and design, is the property of Mainspring Row. Service reports issued to owners may be retained and used by the owner for their own personal reference, resale documentation or insurance purposes. Reproduction of website content for commercial purposes is not permitted without written consent.
10. Disclaimers
- Mechanical watches are complex instruments with finite component lives. We carry out work to a professional standard but cannot predict every outcome on a watch with an unknown prior history.
- Rate regulation targets are stated as typical achievable ranges. Individual calibres and their condition at intake affect what is achievable.
- Website information is provided in good faith. We do not warrant that it is free of errors or that it represents the full scope of any given topic.
11. Limitation of liability
Our liability for any claim arising from a service is limited to the value of the service fee paid for that service. We are not liable for indirect, consequential or incidental losses. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death, personal injury or fraud arising from our negligence.
12. Termination
Either party may cancel a service before bench work begins. If the owner cancels after the written scope is agreed but before the watch is opened, no charge applies. If the watch has already been opened, a partial fee reflecting the work done to that point will apply and be agreed at the time. We reserve the right to decline any intake at our discretion.
13. Dispute resolution
In the event of a dispute, we ask that you contact us first at [email protected] to attempt an informal resolution. If that is not successful, disputes will be governed by the laws of Malaysia and subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Kuala Lumpur.
14. General
- These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Mainspring Row regarding our services.
- If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder of the terms continues in effect.
- Failure to enforce any provision does not waive the right to enforce it later.
- These terms may not be assigned by you without our written consent.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the website or our services after a change constitutes acceptance.
