Three ways the bench can help

Each service is scoped to what the watch actually needs. Nothing is dismantled without a prior agreement, and every job comes back with a written record of what was done.

Condition Survey & Water Resistance Check

A short, low-commitment appointment for owners who are not yet sure what their watch needs. The movement is examined under magnification, rate and amplitude are measured on a timing machine, and the case is pressure-tested. Nothing proceeds without a separate agreement.

Standard Mechanical Service

The workshop's core bench service for three-hand mechanical watches. Full disassembly, multi-stage ultrasonic clean, mainspring renewal, lubrication to specification, and regulation in six positions. The movement rests on test for a week before collection.

Calendar and moonphase module on a bench

Complication Rebuild Project

A longer project for calendars, moon phases, alarm calibres and other multi-module watches. Module strip-down, correction of jumping or drifting date change, moon phase re-setting, and hand or marker replacement where needed. A written proposal comes first; each stage requires agreement before it begins.

Bench practices that matter to owners

Mechanical watches have finite parts and finite patience. The habits below are not marketing — they are how the work is actually done.

Nothing proceeds without agreement

Every service begins with a written scope. If findings change mid-job, work pauses until the owner has reviewed and agreed in writing.

Documented at every stage

Photographs are taken when the case opens and at key disassembly stages. Owners receive the full set alongside the written report.

Pressure-tested on every job

Case seals are renewed and the watch is pressure-tested to its stated rating before it leaves the bench — not just noted in the report.

One week on-test before return

After regulation, the watch runs on the timing machine for a full week. If the rate drifts, the balance staff is re-adjusted before collection.

Original parts where possible

Replacement parts are sourced from the calibre's own supply chain wherever available. Substitutions are noted and discussed before fitting.

Twelve-month workmanship coverage

Standard serviced watches carry twelve months of workmanship coverage on the work done. If something related to the service needs attention, the bench sorts it.

Common questions

Things owners often ask

Do I need an appointment to bring my watch in?

An appointment is preferred so the watchmaker can set aside time to open the case and give it a proper look. Walk-ins are welcome when the bench is free, but a short wait is possible. You can call or send an email to arrange a slot.

How long does a standard service take?

Standard mechanical servicing takes 4–6 weeks. One week of that is spent on a timing machine after regulation, watching how the rate behaves across positions. Complication rebuilds run longer — typically 10–16 weeks depending on parts availability and the complexity of the module.

What happens if additional work is found during servicing?

Work stops. The watchmaker photographs what was found, writes up what is needed and why, and sends you the report. Nothing additional is done until you have reviewed and agreed in writing. You can also choose to have the watch reassembled and collected at the originally quoted price.

Can you service watches from any brand?

The workshop handles most Swiss, German and Japanese mechanical calibres. A quick check at intake will confirm whether parts are available and whether the movement is within scope. Quartz and battery-driven watches are not currently taken in.

What does the quoted price include?

Service prices include the bench work, mainspring renewal, new gaskets, case cleaning, one week on-test and the written report. Parts sourced externally — such as worn pivots, crystals or hands — are quoted separately before fitting. The Condition Survey at RM 480 stands alone; it is not credited against a subsequent service.

Is my watch insured while it is at the workshop?

Watches are stored in a locked cabinet when not on the bench. Owners with high-value pieces are encouraged to check whether their own insurance covers the watch while it is at a third-party workshop. The workshop can provide a receipt with the item's description to support any claim.
